Queenstown Loft

This loft conversion reworks the upper flat of an early 1900s terraced building to create a functional new bedroom within the existing roof space. A carefully positioned front-roof skylight introduces natural light and ventilation, while a new internal staircase provides direct access to the loft without altering the established form of the building.

Located within the Battersea Park Conservation Area, the proposal takes a restrained approach to change. The existing roof volume is retained, and the visible roofline is preserved, while selective chimney alterations improve usable internal space. The result is a practical and sensitive intervention that enhances the flat’s spatial quality while respecting the architectural character of its surroundings.
